Who we are

Monarchy and Democracy: A History of Leadership is a campaign website produced by St James’s House and the SJH Group. For this policy, references to “we”, “us” and “our” mean the organisations responsible for operating this website and handling enquiries connected with the campaign.

SJH Group’s published cookie policy identifies SJH Group as a trading name of Regalpress Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 04132980. The campaign contact point is St James’s House, Studio Building, Fortess Works, 36-52 Fortess Grove, London, NW5 2HD.

Information we collect

We collect personal data only where it is needed for the website, the campaign or your interaction with us. This may include:

  • contact details you provide through the contact form, such as your name, email address and message;
  • technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring page, pages visited and approximate location derived from technical data;
  • cookie preferences and consent records;
  • analytics information, where you consent to analytics cookies or similar technologies;
  • information generated by embedded services, including video platforms, digital publication viewers and other third-party campaign tools.

How we use information

We use personal data to respond to enquiries, operate and secure the website, measure and improve campaign content, manage consent preferences, provide embedded film and digital publication experiences, and meet legal or regulatory obligations.

Our lawful bases may include consent, where you choose to receive a service or allow optional cookies; legitimate interests, where we operate, improve and protect the website; contractual necessity, where we provide requested campaign services; and legal obligation, where records are required by law.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal data. We may share limited information with trusted service providers who help us host the website, deliver email and contact form services, provide analytics, operate embedded video or e-book tools, support security, or maintain campaign systems. These providers may include Google Analytics, Vimeo, YouTube, PageSuite or similar services where they are enabled on this website.

Some providers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we expect appropriate safeguards to be used, such as adequacy decisions or approved contractual protections.

How long we keep information

We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary. Contact enquiries are kept for the period needed to respond and manage the relationship. Technical logs are kept for security and troubleshooting. Cookie consent records are normally retained for up to 180 days unless you update or withdraw your preference sooner. Analytics and embedded-service retention periods are governed by the relevant provider settings and policies.

Cookies

How we use cookies

Cookies are small files placed on your device. We use essential cookies to make the website work, store your consent choice and protect the site. Optional cookies and similar technologies may be used for analytics, embedded media, campaign measurement and future marketing or social services where you allow them.

Non-essential cookies are not intended to run until you accept them or save a preference that allows the relevant category.

Managing cookies

You can accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies or manage category choices using the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time using the button below. You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings, although some site features may not work as expected if essential cookies are disabled.

Your rights

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for access to your personal data, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, objection to processing and withdrawal of consent. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office if you are unhappy with how your data is handled.
